If you feel homesick, the cure is according to the old, good, Balkan custom - food!

You don't have to wait for someone to arrive from your home country with packages - it's enough to visit the nearest shopping center in Dubai or Abu Dhabi, and shop for all those, favorite food that will bring a smile back to your face! The company Balkan Trading FZE recognized what we from ex-Yu in the Middle East lack the most and decided to place more than 200 Bosnian-Herzegovinian food products on the Emirates market. Each of these products "traveled" 25,000 km to be on our table.

Everyone will find something for themselves: from children's food, to sweets, juices, to the much sought-after real homemade filo pastry! Now every woman can be a top cook and be able to prepare a finger-licking pie. What you fill it with is your choice, but don't forget the old Bosnian joke: "All pies are pies, but burek is a Pita!" Or, it's just burek with meat, and everything else is pies”. :-)

High-quality products of renowned manufacturers with a long tradition are now at our fingertips! The famous "Klas Sarajevo 1902" and their flour "Golden powder" with which no cake fails, Mostar's "Hepok 1886" with a large selection of juices, iced teas and jams, "Vispak" from Visoko and their coffee "Zlatna džezva", synonymous for Bosnian coffee.

(Just so you know, Bosnian and Turkish coffee are not one and the same. We will soon reveal the secret of how to make real Bosnian coffee in the new "BIRO RECIPE" column.)

If you would like to eat real jam full of healthy fruit, there are "Hepok" products. The Sarajevo company "Ovako" with pâtés and cold meats also has products on the shelves in the Emirates.

Even though it's extremely hot outside, that doesn't have to be an excuse not to eat something from the "winter food". The company "Sava Semberija 1947" has long been known for its pickled salads. If you haven't tried it before, here's your chance!

Biscuits, chocolates, puddings, whipped cream and other sweets were taken care of by "Kent", "Klas", "Vispak", "Una". Don't bring wafers (Oblande) in your suitcase anymore, thanks to the company "Voćar", you can now buy them here! As well as the much-loved polenta.

They have prepared a special offer for the month of Ramadan - give your friends the famous "Sarajevo lokuma" and "Una's" lokuma.

For lovers of organic and gluten-free food, there are products of the brands "Apieco", "Heljda Eko", so finally we can buy wholemeal flour ground under a stone, from buckwheat, barley, wheat, rye, of verified quality!

You can keep your waist line with "Sava" jams without sugar.

Thanks to Balkan Trading FZE, all the listed companies were represented at the largest food fair in the world "Gulf Food 2015". Let's hope that foreigners recognized the quality! After all, you can always offer your friends to try "real food". They will be delighted for sure!

You can find all these products in "Geant" hypermarkets. The largest selection is in Ibn Batutta Mall in Dubai and in Yass Mall in Abu Dhabi. There is a slightly smaller selection in "Geant Easy" supermarkets - due to limited space. If you live near Jumeirah Park or Arabian Ranches in Dubai, take a walk and check it out. You will also find them in Abu Dhabi on Reem Island.
